Thank you for expressing your interest in Freemasonry by actively seeking out this information. To become a Mason you must meet the qualifications and be accepted by a Lodge. No Mason will ask you to join, you must ask to be a Mason. Any Mason you ask will be more than happy to help you get the process started.

Freemasonry is the oldest and largest fraternity in the world. Historically, it is based on the medieval stonemason guilds that built the great castles and cathedrals of Europe. Mythologically, it is based upon the building of King Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem as told in the Old Testament of the Bible. Modern Freemasons use the tools, traditions, and terminology of those earlier stonemasons as allegories for shaping ourselves into better men.

Qualifications

- male, at least 18 years of age
- a believer in the existence of a Supreme Being
- a voluntary candidate for membership
- motivated to join for reasons unrelated to personal gain or profit
- prompted by a favorable opinion of Freemasonry
- desirous of knowledge and willing to earn it
- a first-time petitioner for membership
- willing to conform to the Ancient Usages & Customs of the Fraternity

Degrees

After your petition is balloted on and you are accepted, you will progress through three degrees: Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason. Degrees are the steps of our initiatory system and are meant to explore ethical and philosophical issues on the path from lower to higher conditions of knowledge. The Degrees are solemn, enlightening, and enjoyable experiences with no uncomfortable or embarrassing moments.
